GOING TO HAVE TO TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT
I understand that reason behind structuring the runs in the way that they are. You want to build VO2 max, push threshold limits and get used to a long time on your legs. The building mileage and different distances is for that reason.
Only, I’m finding it difficult to squeeze in the time. It’s like I work 12 hours shifts, night shift and day shift, write a 1,000 words a day (follow me on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram @johnhuntfiction for updates on my LUDICROUS CHALLENGE), have between six and eight kids in my house at any one time, and also have the general walk-the-dog, clean-up, fix-up, drive-around duties that come along with having a home and kids.
So, I figured, if I ran 60km one week, 70km the next and roughly 80km two weeks before the race and then taper, I will still have the mileage under my legs and can work on the VO2 max and threshold pace during those runs. So, if I run 10km a day, right there that’s 70km in a week, AND, it would only be 45-50mins out of my day. That seems more plausible than the two days a week where I have to run 2hours plus.
What do you think? Do you see any glaring holes in my plan? Like I said, comment and let me know. Who knows? You may win a free audio book.
